February 16th - Wine and Chocolate
We began with a social affair. In February we were treated to an "Evening of Wine and Chocolate" at Ingleside Winery thanks to our dear long-standing member, Annmari Ingersoll and her very gracious partner in crime, Fletcher Flemmer III. We were taken on a tour of the winery and then off to enjoy more of the grapes and a wonderful meal at their lovely historic home, "Wirtland". We had husbands and family members join in for the evening. It was record setting attendance, 25 total and a tough act to follow. Thanks to Annmari and Fletch for a most enjoyable start to our year
March 26th - Pilates session
Thanks to Gina Guffey, our yoga guru, the March meeting was to help us address strength and balance issues with a Pilates demonstration by Diane Bramos, an accomplished area Pilates instructor who delivered an hour’s Pilates workout designed with the horse-person in mind.
April 20th - “Getting ready for the riding season” Marja Sandberg clinic
In April it was back in the saddle with Marja Sandberg -USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist, a USDF "L" Judge and BHS Certified. Although the day of the clinic was wet and blustery, Marja was a trooper. Despite the conditions, the rides stayed on schedule and Marja gave 10 great lessons. She managed to find the "rider within" for each of the participants. Guided by her instruction and encouragement, each pair found an area of accomplishment upon which to build. Many thanks to Michele Alexander and John Spalding of Begin Again Farm for the use of their arena which kept all safe and dry.
May 18th - Chapter Field Trip and Tailgate Social
May 18th we are headed to local Oak Ridge Park for a fun "Field Trip". We plan to ride together in the arenas and then wander the many trails. The outing will conclude with tailgating opportunity where we will share refreshments and conversation.
