YEAR-END HIGH SCORE AWARDS PROGRAM

General Information
· Year End High Score Awards are awarded at the Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet at the end of the show season.
· Separate high score awards will be awarded to Junior and Senior riders at each level except at USDF Introductory level which will have an additional award for Junior Riders age 10 and under.
· The competition year ends October 31 of each calendar year. Any show scores after that date will count towards the following year awards.
· Only scores from PVDA Schooling Shows and USDF Recognized Shows as listed in the PVDA Schooling Show Schedule (Omnibus) will count towards these awards.
· Scores from Chapter Schooling Shows, the Chapter Challenge, and the Region 1 Junior/Young Rider and Adult Team Competitions will not count.
· A horse/rider combination may not win the same award at the same level twice.
· Scores become final 2 weeks before the Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet.
· It is the competitor’s responsibility to verify scores and volunteer hours with the High Score Awards coordinator, Shari Packard via email shari.packard @pvda.org (see eligibility requirements below) But no application form is needed.
· At each level, awards are calculated as follows:
o Awards are based on the percentile scores from the particular level
o The highest and lowest scores are dropped (except in musical freestyle all scores are counted)
o The competitor with the highest average score will be the winner
· For Musical Freestyle, all levels are included in a single division with separate awards for Junior and Senior riders.
· In Dressage Seat Equitation, points will be awarded for first through sixth place (7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 respectively) the rider with the highest number of points will be the winner. There is no minimum number of rides required (see eligibility requirements below).
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for a year-end high score award, a competitor must:
· Be a PVDA member in good standing
· Have a final average score of 55.00% or higher
· Give a minimum of 8 hours of volunteer work to PVDA during the current show year. Please note that volunteer hours performed at Chapter Shows, at USDF Recognized shows that are not sponsored by PVDA, or hours performed by the rider’s friends or family members will not count toward the rider’s volunteer hours.
· USDF Introductory Level through First Level requires participation in a minimum of 4 PVDA Schooling and/or Recognized Shows and a minimum of 7 rides within the level.
· Second Level and above requires participation in a minimum of 3 PVDA Schooling and/or Recognized Shows and a minimum of 5 rides within the level.
· USDF Introductory Level through Second Level must ride at least 2 different tests within the level.
· Musical Freestyle requires participation in 3 PVDA Schooling and/or Recognized Shows and a minimum of 3 rides within the level.
· USDF Introductory Level awards are open to NOVICE riders only. To be eligible, riders may not have competed above Training Level in either schooling or recognized shows.
· Dressage Seat Equitation awards are open to Juniors and Young Riders only.

YEAR-END HIGH SCORE SPECIAL TROPHIES
Eastern Shore Chapter Perpetual Trophy
This trophy is awarded at the Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet. It is awarded to the horse/rider combination (Junior or Senior) with the highest average in the Year-End High Score Award program in Training Level meeting the following requirements:
· Neither horse nor rider has ever won more than 3 blue ribbons at any recognized competition.
· Neither horse nor rider has ever competed above First Level in a recognized competition.
· Winner may not be a previous recipient of this trophy
Trespassers William Perpetual Trophy
This trophy is awarded at the Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet. It is awarded to the horse/rider combination (Junior or Senior) with the highest average Musical Freestyle score at USEF levels at PVDA Schooling Shows.
Equiery Perpetual Dressage Award
The Equiery sponsors an annual year-end award for the high point Maryland-resident amateur rider at Third Level or above, with a minimum score of 50%, who has shown in at least half of the Maryland-located or PVDA-sponsored U.S. Equestrian Federation/U.S. Dressage Federation licensed shows. The award is presented at the annual PVDA banquet.
The winner of this award will:
• be featured on the cover of The Equiery’s annual dressage issue;
• have a brief feature article appear in the issue which will then be archived on equiery.com with a link to pvda.com;
• receive a “keeper” trophy and cooler;
• have his or her name included on the perpetual trophy.

Doris Schadt Memorial Perpetual Trophy is awarded at the Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet to the Junior or Young Rider with the highest percentage score at First Level (excluding Freestyle).
June Robinson Memorial Perpetual Trophy is awarded at the Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet to the Junior or Young Rider with the highest percentage score at Second Level (excluding Freestyle)
CHAPTER CHALLENGE AWARDS
Perpetual Trophies are awarded at the Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet. Trophies are awarded to the Chapter with the highest team score in the following classes:
· USDF Intro Level B
· USEF Training Level 2
· USEF Training Level 4
· USEF First Level 2
· USEF First Level 4
· USEF Second Level and Above
· Quadrille and Pa De Duex
· Musical Freestyle
Liz Pritchard Memorial Trophy is awarded at the Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet to the rider with the highest score in Training Level.
