PVDA VIDEO LENDING LIBRARY

Welcome to PVDA's Video Library Web Page.  As an educational organization, PVDA has many VHS and DVD videos that you may borrow in order to enhance your dressage education.  The only cost to you is a refundable deposit and packaging & postage.

Some of the videos have been purchased by PVDA and others have been donated by PVDA members and other people - many thanks to them for donating videos to PVDA!  And, of course, your donations of videos of interest to PVDA members are always welcome!

Video Borrowing Procedures:
  1. You must be a current PVDA member.  This is verified through the PVDA web site membership directory - you must be listed as a current member.
  2. Video loans are limited to two individual videos at a time.  You may include one alternative video if a requested video is unavailable.
  3. Send two checks with your video request:
    a) Deposit check of $50 per video made out to PVDA. This check will not be cashed unless the video is damaged or unreturned. The check will remain on file for 1 year for future videos borrowed (after which it will bedestroyed), will be destroyed at your request, or mailed back to you at your request (please include a stamped self-addressed envelope for this option).
    b) Shipping & Handling check for $5.00 for 1-2 video rentals, made out to PVDA.
  4. Send the Video Request Form (click here to open and print the form) and checks to: Leslie Raulin, 6522 Ford Road, Frederick, MD 21702.
  5. Videos should be promptly returned after 2 weeks.

Send questions, feedback, and suggestions to: Leslie Raulin at Leslie.Raulin@pvda.org

List of PVDA Videos

Below is a list of videos in the PVDA lending library.  By default, the list sorts by the ID number.  If you want to sort by another field, place your mouse cursor over the field name (Title, Author, Media Format, or Category) - a small down arrow in a yellow box will appear.  Click the small down arrow.  Select "A on top" (list would start with A) or "Z on top" (list would start with Z).  The list re-sorts as you requested.

If you want to search for a keyword, for Microsoft Internet Explorer (MIE), select "Edit" in the top menu of your MIE.  From the menu that drops down, select "Find (on this page)."  In the “Find” window that opens, type in the keyword for which you want to search and select "Find Next."  The first instance of your keyword in the database is highlighted.  To see the second instance of your keyword, select “Find Next” again.  When you find the video of interest, select “Cancel” in the “Find” window and the window closes.

If you have any questions on finding video information in this database, contact Leslie Raulin at Leslie.Raulin@pvda.org.

Sensitive Schoolig for the Less Than Perfect Horse - Vol 1 - The Gaits, Bend, and TransitionsUse SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).
Loch, Sylvia
Sensitive Schooling is a complete training package with or without your instructor. It's about training horses in a way that is pleasurable and logical to them. How many people say "My horse hates schooling!" Yet for showing, jumping, eventing or dressage, who can do without it? Now, using latest technology throughout 4 hours of interactive footage, correct, classical training technique can be brought within your grasp. The Gaits, Bend & Transitions focuses on the important early stages with the younger horse. Without laying good groundwork we cannot expect results. Working with her novice stallion Prazer, Sylvia talks you through it and explains how to develop FEEL...i.e. what we should ask for and why; when and how to ask; why we ask in a particular way; how it should feel in each moment to us; how it should feel to the horse; how to confirm-so the horse improves...and remembers. With the correct FEEL, you will make your horse happy. He will learn how to free up and liberate his gaits. Eventually he should be as proud and comfortable when you ride as when he plays in the field! This DVD will show you how to work at home without compromising your horse. On screen follow each stage of the work, compare different situations, engage your mind; then visualize what you have seen when your ride. As the results unfold before your eyes and under saddle....you too can discover and promote balance, suppleness, engagement, impulsion, as well as harmonious and expressive gaits. Sylvia Loch has been training and teaching classical riding both overseas and... in the UK for well over thirty years. She believes that successful schooling involves huge sensitivity, always being aware that every horse is different. Nevertheless the same basic principles of a good seat, good posture and the correct aids must be retained. The beauty of the classical approach is that your horse is never put under pressure but that everything remains clear and logical.
