$ $ PVDA Scholarships $ $

PVDA members may be eligible to receive a cash scholarship to be used to further your dressage education? There are two types of scholarships:

I. GENERAL PURPOSE

  • open to all current members in good standing
  • awards are based on your record of volunteering for PVDA
  • may be used only for the education of the rider, not for the training or maintenance of the horse
  • maximum $500 per award
  • requests must be approved by the Scholarship Committee, (requests for scholarships in amounts of $400 or greater must be approved by the PVDA Board of Directors

5 days for the parent organization (to include at least 2 days at PVDA schooling shows and 1 day at a PVDA recognized competition)

6 days for the parent organization (to include at least 3 days at PVDA schooling shows and 2 days at PVDA recognized competitions)

 

 

$300

 

4 years

 

7 days for the parent organization (to include at least 3 days at PVDA schooling shows, 3 days at recognized competitions and 1 day at clinics or committees )

 

 

Scholarships of $400 or are granted by a vote of the PVDA Board of Directors and are designed to award long time contributors for outstanding service to PVDA and to allow the contributor to take part in an exceptional opportunity for educational training.

II. SCHOLARSHIPS for USDF / USEF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

(Applicable to: USEF Judges Programs; USEF Dressage Sport Horse Breed Judge; USEF Technical Delegate Program; USDF Judges programs; USDF Certified Instructor Program)

  • Must be a PVDA member for three (3) consecutive years immediately preceding enrollment into approved program.
  • Must maintain PVDA membership throughout duration and successful completion of program course.
  • Must have minimum of eight (8) days volunteer time for the parent organization (of which a minimum of 4 days must be at a PVDA recognized competition) and given within three years prior to successful completion of course.

Benefits

  • USDF Judge program: 30% refund of course cost with evidence of passing grade;
  • 50% refund of course cost with evidence of passing grade "with distinction".
  • USDF Certified Instructor program: 50% refund of course cost with evidence of successful completion and designation.
  • USEF Judges program: 50% refund of program cost upon receiving judges card.
  • USEF Technical Delegate program: 50% refund of cost of up to three required seminars/courses upon successful completion and designation.

APPLICATION INFORMATION
To apply for a PVDA scholarship, a written application must be submitted to the Scholarship Chairperson and contain the following information:

1.       Name, P.O. and email addresses and phone numbers of applicant

2.       Amount requested for scholarship

3.       Number of years as a PVDA member

4.       Statement of goals and current level of riding

5.       Name, address and phone number of instructor or clinician; a short description of his/her qualifications and fees

6.       Estimate on total cost of training project; to include lessons, boarding, transportation costs

7.       Information on verifiable volunteer work performed at recognized and schooling shows; to include dates, locations, name of volunteer coordinators and show managers

8.       Listing of time and work performed at other PVDA functions such as clinics, special events, chapter activities, etc

9.       Notation of any and all previous scholarships granted by PVDA and the year awarded

When a scholarship application has been received, the applicant will benotified of a review date by the scholarship committee. Once a scholarship has been awarded, the applicant will have one year from award notification to complete the scholarship without having to reapply.

Within two months of completion, the recipient must submit a report of two pages or less to the Scholarship Chairperson for publication in the PVDA Newsletter.
