Competitions and Events

PVDA sponsors a series of schooling shows every year along with recognized shows.  The schooling shows are a great opportunity to gain experience showing in a relaxed atmosphere, but they are restricted to PVDA members only. Whatever your favorite activity or special interest, there's probably something going on to increase your knowledge and enjoyment of it.

Group Membership in USDF
PVDA is a Group Member Organization of the United States Dressage Federation (USDF) and, as a result, PVDA members receive a complimentary subscription to USDF Connections. GMO members are not entitled to participate in USDF year end awards or to qualify for year end regional championships.

Monthly Newsletter
The award-winning PVDA Newsletter keeps you informed of association activities and is a good source for local and national dressage news. It tells you what your board is doing and contains articles that share learning experiences, show results. In "Changing Rein" members are invited to express their views and offer constructive comments on any topic relevant to working with and enjoying horses. The opinions expressed there are entirely their own and not necessarily those of PVDA. Members are allowed free classified ads in the Newsletter.

Education
PVDA sponsors clinics and educational programs for its members. Members may audit any clinic for free. Fees for participating in clinics vary from event to event.

Junior/Young Rider Program
PVDA has an active Junior/Young Rider program which offers special schooling shows, clinics, and field trips.

Join A Local Chapter
PVDA members may join a local Chapter, which are sub-groups of the parent organization. Chapters offer horse related activities such as lectures, clinics, schooling shows, film viewing and regular meetings which give opportunities to meet other dressage enthusiasts in the Chapter's area. Chapters are listed on the PVDA Organization page, and their activities are reported in the chapter news section of the newsletter. A unique team competition is also available to PVDA chapter members—the Annual Waverly-on-Chester Chapter Challenge.

Attend a Board Meeting
Find out first hand how PVDA is run. Learn how decisions are made and how much there is to be done to provide the opportunities we have through our membership. Board meetings are open to all members.

Scholarships
Outstanding Volunteers who are members of PVDA are eligible for scholarships to pursue educational opportunities.

Volunteers
Getting involved is one of the best ways to get the most out of your membership. You meet others with the same interest in horses and dressage. Be a show secretary, help with publicity or hospitality. You can learn by writing for a judge or scoring. And anything you do gives you the satisfaction of being able to say you've made PVDA work! Remember, all PVDA officers, board members, committee chairmen and show organizers are volunteers.
